UBE Screamer 1.1.1 build
Built and tested the new version of the UBE Screamer PCB. Everything is working! Sounds great. This is a good alternative to the standard TS-808 and other overdrives if you’re looking for something a little different. Does great low gain sounds. I built this in a 1590B enclosure from Tayda. I got most of the…

UBE Screamer 1.1.1
This is an update of the UBE Screamer board. Same circuit just revised. I had these boards fabricated at PCBWay.com. The quality is very great! The UBE Screamer is a very interesting take on the Ibanez Tube Screamer by RunOffGroove.com. It’s the general circuit topology of the TS-808 but uses CMOS inverters in place of…

RunOffGroove UBE Screamer
This is another great RunOffGroove project. It’s a unique twist on the classic Ibanez Tube Screamer. The UBE Screamer replaces the op-amps and transistor stages in the Tube Screamer circuit with inverters from a 4049UBE hex inverter. I built this from a PCB I designed. The board is project on OSH Park. Check out the…

Work in progress
I always get into something for a while, then need to take a break. There are a few hobbies I always seem to come back to. Pedal making is one of these! I dug out a few of the boards I started before the last break, and ordered a few more. Sat around soldering the…

Sunday Drive (BJFE Honey Bee Drive clone)
this is one of my favorite overdrives. With a dark smooth tone, it’s really an overdrive, rather than a low gain distortion. It really never goes into hard clipping which gives it an expressive dynamic range. I built this from a Procyon PCB from AionFX. I used a desktop mill to engrave the labels and…

UBE Screamer by RunOffGroove
This UBE Screamer by RunOffGroove.com is a unique twist on the venerable Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-808. It replaces the op-amps and transistor stages with a single hex inverter using an inverter in place of each op-amp and transistor. This has a great sound that stands up to all of the other overdrives. Read more about…

Milling a PCB
effectpedal: Making PCBs on the Othermill. Designed in Eagle. I played with the trace size. The default traces in the bantamtools DRC is really small. The 8mil traces are easily damaged.

Vulcan by Joe Davisson
This is Joe Davisson’s Vulcan overdrive. Starting with a prototype board made at home with the Othermill, then turned this into a board from OSHPARK. Boxed up and is working well. This is an interesting overdrive with a couple unique circuit features.
